A finely woven Senneh with the classic Herati (fish-in-a-pond) design rendered in tight, precise knotwork characteristic of Kurdish artisans from the Sanandaj region. The allover repeat pattern creates a rich, textile-like surface that rewards close inspection. Small palmettes, curving leaves, and diamond lattice interlock across the field in deep indigo, soft rose, and warm ivory on an abrash-rich ground. The weave density is notably high for a tribal piece, giving the design unusual clarity and refinement. Even low pile speaks to decades of use, but the foundation remains sound and the piece retains its full structural integrity.
Curator's Notes
Exceptionally fine weave for a Kurdish village piece. Works well on the floor in a low-traffic area or as a wall hanging.
